Cardiff Metropo-litan Sanctuary Award in UK 2021

Applications for the Cardiff Metropolitan Sanctuary Award are being accepted at Cardiff Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom for the academic year 2021/22.

For its efforts to promote awareness of sanctuary seeker issues and to aid asylum seekers and refugees, Cardiff Metropolitan University was named a University of Sanctuary in November 2018.

There have been two postgraduate sanctuary scholarship grants every year since 2016. A total of TWO postgraduate AND TWO undergraduate scholarships will be awarded to students entering in September 2019.

For those seeking refuge in the United Kingdom, the University is committed to providing equitable access to tertiary education, as well as helping them achieve their full potential and goals.

Cardiff Metropolitan Sanctuary Award is well worth it.

This year, there will be a total of four undergraduate and postgraduate scholarship grants available for the 2021 cycle. As part of each scholarship,

fee waiver for the undergraduate or graduate program the candidate has been accepted into;

Eligibility for Cardiff Metropolitan Sanctuary Award

To be considered for the Cardiff Metropolitan Sanctuary Award, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

 

Is your partner/dependant added to an asylum seeker’s application in the United Kingdom or are you a refugee?

OR

Discretionary Leave to Remain, Limited Leave to Remain, or any other form of temporary status, such as Humanitarian Protection, has been granted to you in response to your asylum request. Asylum seekers’ spouses/civil partners must have been married or civil partners at the time the asylum application was filed in order to qualify for asylum benefits. Asylum seekers’ children/stepchildren should have been under the age of 18 at the time of their asylum request.

Candidates must fulfill ALL of these rigorous qualifying requirements and be able to prove their circumstances in order to apply. If a candidate does not meet all of the criteria, they will not be considered for this award.

Successful applicants will be notified by 1st September 2021. Please note, candidates may be asked to attend an interview which will happen between July and August 2021.
